BASICS OF HORSE RACING PART-2

Hi Everyone

                Today i am going to write a post on DAM, SIRE and FOALS RELATION

In the above picture of race card STORM TROOPER(USA)-PAMELA BIRD are two horse names that will denote below the (NAPOLEAN DYNAMITE) horse name that means our horse parents.STORM TROOPER(USA) is the father of our horse and PAMELA BIRD is the mother. In this case STORM TROOPER(USA) is SIRE (Father) and PAMELA BIRD is DAM(Mother)

SIRE or STALLION:
          The male parent of a horse STALLION, is commonly known as the sire

DAM or MARE:
          The male parent of a horse STALLION, is commonly known as the sire

In generally we heard the names of this horse was full brother of that or This foal is half sister of this horse.What are those and why we call them like that?

Humans has relation horses like sisters, Brothers, Grand father, Cousin etc. Horses has lot of relations like half sister, Full sister, Half brother, Full brother, Grandsire, Dam sire and lot more. I am  going to explain some of the terms commonly using in racing history.

HALF SISTER:
          A female horse which the DAM is same but sire are different is known as Half brother
Example:
 In Kolkata a horse name SPYRO GLORY OF DANCER(GB) / CATHERINE LINTON(IRE) as relation with Bangalore horse ANAROSA
MONTJEU / CATHERINE LINTON(IRE).
 Because these two horses are from same mother (CATHERINE LINTON (IRE) but fathers are diffrent.

Half BROTHER:
       A male horse which the SIRE is same but DAMS are different is known as Half brother

FULL BROTHER:
                Two or more male horse which has same SIRE and same DAM is known as Half brother.

FULL SISTER:
                Two or more female horse which has same SIRE and same DAM is known as Half brother.

GRAND SIRE:
             This means Father of DAM like grandfather

BASICS OF HORSE RACING PART-1

Today i am going to write a post on some of the basics of horse racing that a punter should understand the following things surely. Without these basics we are like alphabets in English dictionary.

1) How to identity the horse gender on race card? On what basis it will be classified?
 In any race card there are 5 types of shortcut letters that will represent the gender or horse classification that is

* YEARLING:
                This name you cant see in the race card and this word uses some of the particular persons that related to breeding industry. Lot of punters may not know this name and its not that much important as well. Basically this yearling word stands for a young horse of either sex that is between one and two years old.

* COLT:
           This (C=COLT) shortcut letter you will see on the race card daily and why it will be classified in that race card because Colt stands for a adult male horse which is the age under between 2 to 4 years according to indian standards. Generally some of my experienced and old punters will say Colts having good musclar structure and having  good sprinting capabilities, But these will theriotcally not proved.

* FILLY
        This (F=FILLY) shortcut letter you will see on the race card daily and why it will be classified in that race card because FILLY stands for a adult female horse which is the age under between 2 to 4 years according to indian standards.

* GELDING:
               This (G=GELDING) shortcut letter you will see on the race card daily and why it will be gelded? What are the reasons for gelding?
According to my knowledge there are two reasons a horses will be gelded they are
1) If the horse is too aggressive and won't let anyone ride him, then he will be gelded
2) He had one undescended teste, which made it difficult for him to run, so they got rid of both.
Some old punters will say after gelding it will improve or worsen its strength.

* HORSE or STALLION:
         This (H=HORSE) shortcut letter you will see on the race card daily and why it will be classified in that race card because HORSE stands for a Matured male horse which is the age above 4 years according to indian standards.

* MARE
      This (M=MARE) shortcut letter you will see on the race card daily and why it will be classified in that race card because MARE stands for a Matured female horse which is the age above 4 years according to indian standards.

I hope someone will learn from this and some of the sentences has been taken as references from other websites. Kindly comments and suggestions will be really appreciated.

Thanking you,
