Today i am going to write a post on DAM, SIRE and FOALS RELATION
In the above picture of race card STORM TROOPER(USA)-PAMELA BIRD are two horse names that will denote below the (NAPOLEAN DYNAMITE) horse name that means our horse parents.STORM TROOPER(USA) is the father of our horse and PAMELA BIRD is the mother. In this case STORM TROOPER(USA) is SIRE (Father) and PAMELA BIRD is DAM(Mother)
SIRE or STALLION:
The male parent of a horse STALLION, is commonly known as the sire
DAM or MARE:
The male parent of a horse STALLION, is commonly known as the sire
In generally we heard the names of this horse was full brother of that or This foal is half sister of this horse.What are those and why we call them like that?
Humans has relation horses like sisters, Brothers, Grand father, Cousin etc. Horses has lot of relations like half sister, Full sister, Half brother, Full brother, Grandsire, Dam sire and lot more. I am going to explain some of the terms commonly using in racing history.
HALF SISTER:
A female horse which the DAM is same but sire are different is known as Half brother
Example:
In Kolkata a horse name SPYRO GLORY OF DANCER(GB) / CATHERINE LINTON(IRE) as relation with Bangalore horse ANAROSA
Because these two horses are from same mother (CATHERINE LINTON (IRE) but fathers are diffrent.
Half BROTHER:
A male horse which the SIRE is same but DAMS are different is known as Half brother
FULL BROTHER:
Two or more male horse which has same SIRE and same DAM is known as Half brother.
FULL SISTER:
Two or more female horse which has same SIRE and same DAM is known as Half brother.
GRAND SIRE:
This means Father of DAM like grandfather
DAM SIRE:
This means Father of SIRE like grandfather
